Claude is not a chatbot. I need to say that upfront because most business owners hear "AI assistant" and picture a customer service widget in the corner of a website. That is not what this is. Claude is a thinking tool. You give it a problem, context, and instructions, and it produces work — real, usable work — that would have taken you or an employee hours.
I work across three operations: a real estate team, a property management company, and an AI automation company. Claude is embedded in my daily workflow across all three. I use it to draft emails, write standard operating procedures, analyze spreadsheets, respond to clients, plan strategy, and build content. It is not a gimmick or an experiment. It is how I get through the day without a 14-hour schedule.
This post walks you through exactly what Claude is, how I use it in real business operations, and how you can start using it this week — even if you have never touched an AI tool before.
What Is Claude, in Plain English?
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic. You type something in — a question, a task, a rough draft — and Claude responds with useful output. It can write emails, summarize documents, analyze data, brainstorm ideas, edit content, create SOPs, draft proposals, and much more.
The difference between Claude and a Google search is that Claude does the work. Google gives you links. Claude gives you a finished first draft. You still review and edit, but the heavy lifting is done.
Claude comes in a free tier and paid plans. The free version is powerful enough to start. The paid Pro plan ($20/month) gives you access to the most capable model and higher usage limits. For business use, the Pro plan pays for itself within the first week.
One thing that makes Claude different from other AI tools: it is designed to be honest about what it does not know. It will tell you when it is uncertain rather than making something up. For business decisions, that matters.
How Do I Use Claude Across Three Businesses?
Here are five things I do with Claude almost every day. These are not theoretical use cases. These are real tasks from real days.
Email drafting: I get 50 to 80 emails a day across three businesses. I do not write most of my replies from scratch anymore. I paste the incoming email into Claude, tell it the tone and key points, and it drafts a response. I review, tweak if needed, and send. What used to take 2 hours of email time is now 30 minutes.
Standard operating procedures: Every time I build a new process — onboarding a client, handling a maintenance request, qualifying a lead — I describe the steps to Claude and it produces a clean, formatted SOP. I used to procrastinate on documentation because it was tedious. Now I document everything because Claude makes it fast.
Data analysis: I paste spreadsheets, CSV exports, and financial summaries into Claude and ask questions. "Which zip codes generated the most leads last quarter?" or "What is our average cost per acquisition by channel?" Claude reads the data and gives me answers with context, not just numbers.
Customer responses: When a tricky client situation comes up — a complaint, a negotiation, a delicate conversation — I describe the scenario to Claude and ask for a response draft. It gives me something professional and measured that I can customize. This is especially useful when I am frustrated and need a cooler head to draft the first version.
Planning and strategy: I use Claude as a thinking partner. "Here is my revenue goal, here is where I am, what are the three most impactful moves I can make this quarter?" Claude does not replace my judgment, but it organizes my thinking and surfaces options I might not have considered.

Book a Discovery CallWhat Can Claude Do That Most Owners Do Not Know About?
Most business owners who try Claude use it once to write a social media post and then forget about it. That is like buying a Swiss Army knife and only using the toothpick. Here is what you are missing.
Projects: Claude has a feature called Projects where you can upload documents — your company handbook, your pricing sheet, your service descriptions — and Claude will reference them in every conversation. This means Claude learns your business. You do not have to re-explain your services every time you start a new chat.
Artifacts: When Claude generates something complex — a document, a spreadsheet layout, a piece of code — it creates an "artifact" that you can view, edit, and export separately from the conversation. This is incredibly useful for creating deliverables.
Custom instructions: You can set permanent instructions that Claude follows in every conversation. Things like "always write in my brand voice" or "when I ask about pricing, reference this rate sheet." This turns Claude from a generic assistant into your assistant.
Long-context analysis: Claude can read and analyze documents up to 200,000 words in a single conversation. You can paste an entire lease agreement, a 50-page report, or a year of financial statements and ask specific questions about them.
How Do You Get Started With Claude This Week?
Here is your first-week playbook. Do not try to automate your entire business on day one. Start small, build the habit, then expand.
Day 1: Go to claude.ai and create a free account. Start a conversation and ask Claude to help you draft an email you have been putting off. That is it. Get one useful output on day one.
Day 2: Take a process you do repeatedly — responding to a certain type of inquiry, formatting a report, writing a follow-up message — and ask Claude to help you create a template for it.
Day 3: Upload a document (a contract, a financial report, meeting notes) and ask Claude questions about it. See how it handles your real business documents.
Day 4: Set up a Project in Claude. Upload your core business documents — service descriptions, pricing, brand guidelines. Now every conversation in that Project has context about your business.
Day 5: Identify the three tasks that eat most of your week. Write them down. Ask Claude to help you build a faster process for each one. You will not automate all three in one sitting, but you will have a roadmap.
If you want hands-on help with any of this, that is exactly what the coaching sessions are for. One hour with someone who has already done it is worth a month of figuring it out alone.
